Agon - Introduction, Part I

I found this nifty system, called Agon, while looking for a random name generator (long story).  I was intrigued by the preview, and the PDF was only ten dollars.  If I haven't mentioned this before, I'm always on the lookout for new systems to tinker with.  So, I bought it.

I flipped through it, and I realized it would make a great sub-game.  Not really a full-on roleplay, but something a handful of friends and I could throw down, kill some monsters, and have a good time at the drop of a hat.  So, I got four players, under the idea that we would play this whenever we could, and it wouldn't take over our Friday game.

The point of Agon is to play ancient Greek heroes, in service to the gods.  Each character is a hero that follows one god devoutly.  We have three of them so far, so let us get to it.

The first is Strong-Limbed Titus Calphius, Son of Valosious, servant of Hades.  He is a versatile melee fighter, a master of shield, sword, and spear.  He is skilled in all things vigorous.

The second hero is Far-Seeing Leo, Son of the goddess Artemis, servant of Apollo.  He is graceful, knowledgable, athletic, and a champion of the bow.

The third hero is Far-reaching Acaron, Son of the hero Perseus, servant of Athena.  He is mighty, a skilled speaker and healer, and athletic.  His skill with the spear is the stuff of legend.

We have one more character to roll, and then we get to roll for Achievements.  Achievements are events of their pasts were they crossed paths, and thus owe each other oaths.  I'm looking forward to how it pans out.

If you are interested in the Agon system, go here.  I plan on doing a System Spotlight in the near future, after I've had some time to play it.  Otherwise, it looks like fun!
