The party has enjoyed the hospitality of the Vorpaltusk, but as the Avatar departs, so must they. There was sos debate as to their first action, but it is finally agreed that they should hunt down Silverfin One-eye, and end him once and for all. The Avatar tells them to seek out allies.
He travel north thorough the kingdom, searching for the river Silverfin has made his residence. They encounter a travelling merchant, who tells them that a massive army of barbarians have been seen moving north, wearing the mark of the black skull. The party realizes that Icurnas is gathering more armies to them. They hear that the army is heading to the Old Forest, and they chase them to learn what they are up against.
When they arrive at the Old Forest, they find several acres cut and burned down. Elenya Lindale and Thourin Stonefist lament at the loss of nature. Sibyll Demier, Silvertooth Dreadwind, and Kirin Drakos notice a solitary man sitting at the center of the desolation. Sibyll asks for the spell of walking unseen from Thourin, and then moves to approach him. The man appears human, is incredibly fit, and even as he sits on a stump she could tell he was about seven feet tall. He had long, unkept brown hair and a big beard to match. He would poor clothing, all in earth tones. When she sees him, he is crying, and wear his tears fall, grass regrows in seconds. Even though she was concealed by a spell, he notices her, and gently greets her, in her own tongue. She is pleased to be met without scorn due to her race, and ends the spell upon her. The others see her chatting with the man, and come to greet him.
The party speculates whom the man may be, and some even consider he is one of the lesser deities, or the High God himself. When Thourin approaches, he hears a voice in his head. "Ah, Chosen One, it is good to see you this far from your home." Thourin is filled with humility and can only assume the man is the Demi-god of Earth, whom legend says created his race. He is suddenly filled with powerful earthen magic, and begins to revive the land around him while the others speak to the man, who introduces himself as "a simple wanderer." He tells them the barbarians cut down the region of wood to build war machines. He notices the runes on their weapon and armor, and calls them warriors. After a short chat, he tells them he has work to do, and asks they eat and motions behind them. When they turn around, an array of fresh berry bushes and ripe vegetables. When they pick them, the berries and vegetables regrow almost instantly. When they ate them, they felt more rejuvenated than ever before. They filled their wagon with the wonderous food, and fetched Thourin, before heading on their way.
After some more debate, they decided, once more, to pursue Silverfin One-eye. They turned around and hunted him. When they finally found his camp, all the naga under his command were laying about, slain. Silverfin One-eye himself had been put on display in the middle of the camp, flayed open and quite deceased. Above him was written a warning in the common tongue: "A message to those that would cross Admiral Krakenjaw". Silvertooth says they should find this admiral, since they need allies. V2Z4 protests, saying the admiral does not sound like a man they wish to deal with. Regardless, with Silverfin One-eye dead, they move on. They head north, and press themselves, hoping to catch the barbarian army.
They pass out of the kingdom, through the Old Forest, and arrive back in the Ruined Plains. After a few days of travel, at dusk, they come over a rocky ridge and see a massive camp laid out before them. They see thousands of men, and hundreds of elephants. Silvertooth uses his spy glass and identifies a huge stock of lumber, and large, wooden contraptions. They agree to let Thourin use a ritual to control the earth, use it to create an earthquake of sorts, and drive the elephant in to a frenzy. Elenya suggests she use her new enchanted quiver to rain fire on the camp once the commotion starts. Kirin uses his ring of invisibility to slip in to the camp while Thourin prepares his ritual. He identifies the supply camp, the food camp, and ensures that these are the barbarians they were seeking, before heading back
After many attempts and over five hours, Thourin finally performs the ritual with success. He instills intelligence in the earth, and tells to to wreck havoc on the camp. It goes through, smashing and bashing the camp. The elephants turn wild, and stampede in all directions. Elenya fires a fireball into the camp, which alerts the barbarians to the party's location. Thourin urges the earth to come back and protect them, as they turn to flee. A man in black robes and armor, riding a black horse, comes charging at them. The earth takes out his horse, but he sprouts wings and casts a veil of darkness over the party. As they stumble in all directions to escape the darkness and flee, V2Z4 suddenly finds himself in a bubble of light, with the dark warrior at him. For fifteen seconds, the warriors swings a shadowy sword at V2Z4, but he keeps on the defensive and bats away each attack with ease. Finally, the earth tries to overcome the man, but he flies away with his wings. The party all escape the darkness, regroup, and flee north. They look behind them, satisfied the army had been stopped and beaten.
They make it to Venture Bay, pay to get the Dread Mist out of inbound, and set sail. They had heard that there was trouble on the mainland to the west, and make plans to head there.
